Digital ID

I hate carrying a wallet around! Mine is huge! I have so many different cards and things that I need to carry with me at all times, but my wallet is the size of a bag! I wish I didn't have to carry anything around, or something as small as an iphone that has everything I need in it.

This would be extremely useful, especially considering the numerous uses of an iphone.

Having a digital ID would enable people to compact their bags, wallets, purses, etc. into either one device or card, or maybe even it all could be connected to your finger print. Identity theft would be none existent. For example, if you had a device with all your information and it got stolen, you would call a number and it would be remotely shut off and all your information would be deleted off of it, but your information would not be lost because it would be stored in an external hard drive else where.

  1. What about the tracking that goes with some of these devices? Where is the data stored and who has access?

I guess I am concerned with the privacy issues and who controls

  2. For our second activity in class I was in the digital ID group. I had never heard of it before and was rather fascinated by the idea of it when I did some research. I was also terrified of it at the same time. The thought of having all of my personal information stored into a giant database somewhere in the unknown was a little terrifying. I understand how identity theft would disappear initially, but like any program or application, that information could potentially get hacked into and used to destroy me. The same goes for all users who would have their information stored in that same database. There will always be that computer geek type person that spends endless hours trying to hack into non-hackable programs. Our information is stored in code, a mere compliation of 0's and 1's. Until further security is provided, I just don't think I'm ready to store all of my information in one large hard drive in a black hole of oblivian. Just my opinion, I still think the technology is extrememly fascinating though :)
